Where will the 2021 PFL finals event take place?
The ultimate goal for every fighter taking part in a Professional Fighters League (PFL) season is to make it to the championship finals of his or her weight class and win it, becoming the champion and obtaining a $1 million cash prize.
First introduced in 2018, the PFL, which was established after the purchase of the World Series of Fighting, is unique in that it presents a regular-season-and-playoffs format, seen in major pro sports organizations, for MMA.
Each fighter gets to compete in two regular-season bouts, with the top fighters moving on to the postseason, where they fight for the right to make it to the championship contest.
A location for the 2021 PFL finals has not been announced, rumored to be Las Vegas; fans will be in attendance
Peter Murray, CEO of the PFL, did not confirm a date or location of this year’s championship card to FanSided MMA in an exclusive interview. He did, however, confirm that the plan is for fans to be allowed in attendance for the event.
PFL events in 2021, after not having a 2020 season due to the COVID pandemic, have been held with no audience in bubbles. The regular-season events took place in Atlantic City, NJ, while the three playoff cards in August will be held in Hollywood, FL.
The 2018 and 2019 postseasons saw the PFL hold its finals card on New Year’s Eve at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Murray confirmed to Scott Fontana of the New York Post that New York will not play host to the event this year.
Nolan King of MMAJunkie reported the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) granted the PFL a license for an event on Oct. 27 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
